LAVENDER AROMATHERAPY WAX (Lavandula angustifolia) FORMULATION WITH OIL PURIFICATION BASE USED COOKING OIL AS A REPELLENT

Abstrak

Malaria masih menjadi masalah kesehatan di Indonesia, termasuk di Provinsi Gorontalo dengan jumlah kasus tercatat sebanyak 1.581 kasus. Upaya pencegahan dilakukan melalui pengembangan repelan alami yang aman dan ramah lingkungan dengan menggunakan lavender. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui evaluasi dan aktivitas formulasi lilin aromaterapi lavender ( Lavandula angustifolia ) dengan basis pemurnian minyak jelantah sebagai repelan terhadap nyamuk Anopheles vagus. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan empat formula yaitu minyak atsiri lavender F0 (0%), F1 (15%), F2 (20%), dan F3 (25%). Evaluasi meliputi uji organoleptik, lama bakar, titik leleh, uji hedonik, dan aktivitas repelan terhadap nyamuk Anopheles vagus. Data dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan uji  One Way ANOVA . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keseluruhan formula lilin aromaterapi berbentuk padat, berwarna ungu merata, bertekstur halus, dengan lama bakar optimal dan titik leleh 50–58°C. Uji hedonik menunjukkan bahwa F1 dan F2 paling disukai panelis, sementara F3 terlalu menyengat dan F0 kurang menarik. Semua formula dengan ekstrak lavender memiliki aktivitas repelan  terhadap nyamuk Anopheles vagus. Uji statistik tidak menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan dalam waktu pembakaran dan titik leleh antar formula. Disimpulkan bahwa lilin aromaterapi lavender berbahan dasar minyak goreng bekas berpotensi sebagai repelan dengan daya terima aroma terbaik pada konsentrasi 15–25%.
